Over two years after it’s initial release, the behemoth that is Destiny 2 is finally going Free-to-Play.

Now what does this mean exactly?

In an effort to bring new people into the franchise, developer Bungie is now releasing a free version of the same game to all of the same platforms.

It’s called Destiny 2: New Light, and it will contain all Year One content that exists for the game. This includes the Red War campaign, The Curse of Osiris DLC, the Warmind DLC and even the Leviathan raid.

Anything after that, players will need to purchase Destiny 2: Forsaken to access, including all of the new content coming with Destiny 2: Shadowkeep on the very same day as New Light.

So this is a pretty hefty chunk of content that will be available to players for free, and it can potentially motivate them to drop some cash on the game going forward.

Destiny 2: New Light is set for release on October 1st, 2019, on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC.
