If you thought that the Nintendo Switch was the perfect console to play a Monster Hunter game on, it seems that Capcom agrees with you, because the publisher has now announced that Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is going to hit the handheld console this year.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is a port for the Nintendo Switch of Monster Hunter Generations, a Nintendo 3DS game in the franchise that released back in 2015. More specifically though, this is the HD port of Monster Hunter X, which itself was an expanded version of Monster Hunter Generations that had additional downloadable content included with it on the 3DS.
An official summary of the game reads:
Hunters can face off against the series’ largest roster of unique monsters in this nostalgic look back at the series’ beginnings and evolutions. Take on the role of a brave hunter on an adrenaline-fueled adventure challenging larger-than-life beasts. Completing quests will yield valuable resources for crafting countless distinct weapons and equipment fashioned after players’ defeated foes. Along their journey, hunters must defend each of the game’s four villages from major threats known as the Fated Four, plus an even more dangerous new Elder Dragon
The game will feature cross-platform multiplayer between both the Nintendo Switch and the 3DS versions of the title, and players will also be able to transfer their save data between the two consoles.
The game has already been available as Monster Hunter XX on the Nintendo Switch exclusively in Japan since last year but is only now coming to the west. So If you have already played Monster Hunter Generations, don’t expect to find a bunch of new content in the HD port.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is set to release worldwide on 28th August, 2018. It will also be on show at E3 2018 next month.
