Rage 2 Has Gone Gold

With just over 10 days to go till launch, Bethesda Softworks has now announced that their upcoming game Rage 2 has gone Gold. The announcement was made via a blog post on their official website.

What does going gold mean exactly? Well, it means that development on the game has been completed, and it is in a state of completion that the developer feels confident enough to send it out into the world.

I’d like to tell you that this means that a game is in the best possible state it should be, but that isn’t really the case for a lot of games these days. Bethesda in particular has a track record of putting out buggy games, but we can all hope that this isn’t the case here.

The developer also listed the recommended system requirements for the game on PC. You can see them below:

PC RECOMMENDED SETTINGS:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Win7, 8.1, or 10 (64-Bit versions)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB or AMD Vega 56 8GB
  • Storage: 50 GB available space

PC MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Win7, 8.1, or 10 (64-Bit versions)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-3570 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 780 3GB or AMD R9 280 3GB
  • Storage: 50 GB available space

According to the very same blog post, the game is expected to run at
1080p at a capped 30 FPS on the PlayStation 4, and a capped 30 FPS and 900p on the Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One X will both run the game at a steady 60 FPS.

Rage 2 is set for release on 14th May, 2019 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC.
